Sunny Side Up Eggs on Toast
Golden toast topped with soft, runny-yolk sunny side up eggs, finished with a sprinkle of salt and black pepper.
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread (any bread you like)
- 2 eggs
- 1โ2 tsp butter or oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Method
-
Toast the bread slices until golden and crisp. You can do this on a pan or in a toaster.
-
Heat butter or oil in a pan on low to medium heat. Crack the eggs gently into the pan. Cook without flipping until the whites are set but the yolk is still soft and slightly runny. You can cover the pan for a few seconds if you want the top to cook slightly without flipping.
-
Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the eggs.
-
Place the sunny side up eggs on top of the toasted bread.
-
Serve immediately while warm, with the yolk still soft.
Tips: Keep the heat low so the eggs cook gently and the yolk stays soft. Cook the eggs longer if you prefer a firmer yolk. Any bread works here, but slightly thicker slices hold the egg better.
